Approved HCG Diet Foods

The diet foods that are approved for the hCG Diet gives dieters only 500 calories a day when followed correctly. The diet consists of certain foods and drinks to consume throughout the day. It is called a very low calorie diet. It is important to follow the exact diet to avoid any HCG diet dangers. This diet was implemented by Dr. A.T.W. Simeons after he did studies of pregnant women in India who gave birth to healthy babies after eating less food. He is also the first physician to study the glycoprotein hormone and to extract it from the urine of pregnant women to be used as a diet supplement in injection form or through drops. Dr. Simeons diet has a very limited amount of food on it, so some dieters may need to add a little bit more of food to it in order to make it a sustainable diet for them. The protocol consists of taking the hCG injection on a daily basis, and then eating the recommended foods that will only give them a calorie intake of 500 calories. The same foods must be eaten twice a day in the same portions, no more or no less, and no two foods should be eaten at the same time. It will be many different types of food that will be eaten for a meal. When a person consumes protein it must only be 3.5 ounces and the protein or meat must be lean. Fruits and vegetables should also only be 3.5 ounces a day. The food can be baked, grilled, steamed, or broiled, but never fried, and there should not be any extra fats added to the diet. When using seasoning on the required food a person can use raw apple cider vinegar, garlic, herbs, peppers, chile, and salt.

Different Meats and Other Proteins

All of the meat on the diet should be lean. A person can eat chicken breast, beef, venison, bison, white fish, shrimp, crab, lobster, halibut, tilapia, and striped bass. One whole boiled egg can be eaten, along with three white eggs. For people who are vegetarians they can eat a boiled egg to substitute the meat, 3.5 ounce cottage cheese, and 16 ounces of skim milk. Protein powders such as whey, rice, or hemp can also be used.

One Vegetable

Only one vegetable at a time should be eaten along with the proteins. The vegetables can be a choice of beets, greens, tomato, lettuce, spinach, chicory, chard, onions, fennel, celery, cucumbers, radish, cabbage, mushrooms, alfalfa sprouts, peppers, green beans, or asparagus. The vegetables should not be mixed.

Fresh Fruits

The fruit of choices should be either six strawberries, one half grapefruit, melon, blueberries, orange, or an apple. Tangerines should not be eaten in the place of oranges because they are higher in sugar.

Fluids

Only 2 liters of beverages should be consumed a day. They can consist of tea, water with lemon, and coffee. The tea can be either green, white, or black tea. The beverages should have no sugar in them. They can be a cross between both caffeinated and decaffeinated. Stevia extract can also be used with water.

The main part of the diet (Phase 2) has a very specific list of foods that you can eat.  Here are the approved foods for the 500 calorie-per-day portion of the HCG diet:
